What do you see across the street from your home or apartment? In late September, 1888, Vincent van Gogh wrote his brother Theo about a new painting he had recently created of the view from his rented house, soon to be shard by his friend and colleague Paul Gauguin. For Vincent had the good fortune to live across from a public park in Arles, the city in southern France where he resided at the time. Notice the range of greens and yellows the artist recreated, capturing the transition of colors when summer passes into fall.
