Wouldn’t you like to walk into Poplars in Autumn by Vincent van Gogh? Forgetting the physical barriers of the canvas and its frame, dwelling instead within the rich tones of brown, yellow, and touches of red that color the landscape of Vincent’s Dutch neighborhood. A peaceful place with its regular pathway, lined with the slender forms of the trees, crowned with the soon to be disappearing leaves. The sky a strong and vibrant blue, indicator of the increasing coldness of the weather. Notice, too, the humble woman, her dark figure, almost merging into the background. Is she a member of Vincent’s family, or a local peasant on an errand or taking a stroll.
