How could we ever forget Catharine who is portrayed above? For how can we resist those penetrating brown-black eyes that can touch our heart and soul? Bestowed on posterity by early 20th century American master and teacher Robert Henri–who could capture his sitter in quick, bold brushstrokes, from Catharine’s rosy cheeks to the rather unruly curls of her hair to the gray fabric of the dress (or is it a coat?). Although Henri was based in New York, he traveled often to Ireland where he immortalized in paint Catharine and other children of the country.
