Henri Edmond Cross, Venice, c. 1903, watercolor over black chalk, Ailsa Mellon Bruce Collection, National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.
Title: Venice
Artist: Henri Edmond Cross (1856-1910)
I will be away for about two weeks so enjoy some works of art while I am gone, including a memory of Venice by French artist Henri Edmond Cross, who was influenced by both the Impressionists and Neo-Impressionists like Georges Seurat. A vibrant watercolor, particularly the pink and purplish clouds as well as the aquamarine water.
