Title: Child with Toys–Gabrielle and the Artist’s Son, Jean

Artist: August Renoir (1841-1919)

I will be away for about two weeks so enjoy some works of art while I am gone, including this wonderful portrait by the French Impressionist icon Renoir. He had three sons, the middle one Jean (born in 1894) is shown here with the family governess Gabrielle. Jean Renoir would become an award-winning director, residing  in Hollywood during his later years, where he died in 1979.
