This tempera on panel painting provided by the Philadelphia Museum of Art is “Winter, 1946” by Andrew Wyeth, from the North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh. In gathering about 100 works from collections around the world, Kathleen A. Foster, curator of American art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, wanted to highlight the emotion, psychology and surrealism that sets Wyeth apart from other realists and landscape painters.
