Japanese master Takeuchi Seiho(1864-1942) often portrayed domestic animals, characterized by an unforgettable naturalism and the ability to recreate the spirit of his subjects.  French philosopher Michel de Montaigne (1533-1592) may have lived over 400 years ago, but his Essays on the human condition are still meaningful to 21st century readers.
