Alpenblumen or Alpine Flowers by Austrian painter Anna Stainer Knittel (1841-1915) expresses her love of the flowers of the mountain region where she was born and lived. Knittel had a successful career as an artist, especially renowned for her landscapes and floral works. While American poet Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) would only achieve fame posthumously for her incomparable verses, spending her life in obscurity in Amherst, Massachusetts.
