THE SUPREME IMPRESSIONIST
A COUNTRY WALK WITH THE YOUNG MONET
It seems to me, when I see nature, that I see it ready made, completely written—but, then, try to do it all…..
Claude Monet, Letter to Frederic Bazille
French Impressionist master Claude Monet (1840-1926) was only a teenager when he created the poetic View at Rouelles, Le Havre in the countryside outside his home town. Although his style here is more realistic than his later Impressionist works, Monet’s genius as a landscapist is already apparent.
