THE ART OF CREATIVE COOKING

William Orpen, Le Chef de L’Hotel Chatham, Paris, 1921, oil on canvas, Royal Academy of Arts, London, UK

A skilled and trained cook who works in a restaurant, especially the most important cook.

Cambridge Dictionary

Have you heard of Irish pairtner William Orpen (1878-1931)?  Acknowledged in his own time for his striking portraits and chronicling of World War I military events for the British government, Orpen’s reputation declined after his death. However, in recent years, his artistic production has been re-evaulated.
