Dutch icon Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) created some of his most expressive landscapes of autumn in his home country of the Netherlands.  Poplars Near Nuenen was painted in Nuenen where he lived with his family for a few years in the mid-1880s. Another work of art produced during this period was the internationally renowned The Potato Eaters.
