French Impressionist Gustave Caillebotte (1848-1894), like his colleague and friend Claude Monet (1840-1926), lived along the Seine in the Argenteuil area, where he painted these two works.  Besides being a remarkable artist, Caillebotte was also one of France’s leading yachtman.
