Henri Lesbasque, Madame Lesbasque and Her Daughter Martha, 1898-1899, oil on canvas, Private Collection

French artist Henri Lesbasque (1865-1937) thrived in the creative milieu of his day, influenced by a variety of styles, from Impressionism to works by Matisse and Bonnard.  Notice particularly Lesbasque’s use of rich color in his moving depiction of an intimate moment shared by his wife and daughter.
