Canadian artist Franklin Carmichael (1890-1945) was a leading member of the Group of Seven, active in the early part of the 20th century.  Landscape was integral to Carmichael’s creative and spiritual vision.  He was especially stirred by the vast wilderness of his country, from Ontario to Alberta where Bay of Islands from Mt. Burke above was painted.
