October is the month most associated with autumn, at least in the northeastern part of the United States. Inspiring generations of American artists, like painter Jasper Francis Cropsey. Who, beginning in the mid-nineteenth century, trekked up to the White Mountains, which still draws visitors today for its fall foliage. However, imagine the challenge then, in the early days of the train and before the invention of the car, of traveling to this remote area plus attempting to sketch the wilderness landscape, extending for miles.
