Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre
Italian artist Pietro Rotari (1707-1762) began his career in his native country, but he also resided in Russia, where he both painted portraits for the court of Empress Catherine the Great as well as genre portrayals like Girl with a Book above. British writer Charlotte Bronte (1816-1855) created one of the classic novels of English literature, Jane Eyre.
