When people talk, listen completely.  Most people never listen.*

Ernest Hemingway

Ohio born Elizabeth Nourse (1859-1938) was a contemporary of Mary Cassatt and like her fellow American colleague, spent most of her career in France, often depicting maternal themes and children in general.  Nobel Prize winning Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) dominated 20th century American literature with works like A Farewell to Arms, The Sun Also Rises, and Old Man and the Sea.
