Felix Vallotton, Woman with a Powder Compact, n.d., o.c.?, Private Collection

The mirror has been an intriguing theme for artists throughout the centuries: from the joyful Girl at a Mirror below by Dutch Golden Age painter Paulus Moreelse (1571-1638) to the rather provocative Woman with a Powder Compact by Swiss born Felix Vallotton (1865-1925), whose career spanned the late 1800s into the early 1900s.
