Before French Post-Impressionist master Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) traveled to Tahiti, the locale most associated with his work, the artist spent several years in Brittany, the inspiration for the painting above.  Andrew Murray (1828-1917) was a South African pastor, renowned for his ministry and writings.
